As a teacher, I've definitely gone through phases with my tendency to adjust or not adjust. For instance, when subbing a class, I tend to adjust less, simply because I feel like I haven't earned the students' trust yet.

And I have to say, the legal ramifications do play into how I handle the situation. With students suing teachers over "unwanted adjustments" and people who simply refuse to take responsibility for their own practice, I just tend to back off a little. Kind of sad... but it is what it is...
