my newest practice

My teacher gave me this amazing singing bowl.  She got it in Nepal from a man who had travelled from China.  I can't even imagine that history and that story.

But, it has a more recent history.  After she bought it, it travelled with her to all of her workshops for a decade.  And, after that, she gave it to her teacher, Erich Schiffmann.  Erich used it for a bit, but then optioned for a different bowl from her collection.

Now it has found its way to me.

While I find all of her teachings to be fun and informative, it is always the guided meditation or savasana that truly reaches into my bones.  Her voice is hypnotizing and then when she makes her bowl sing...well, to me it isn't far short of magical.

My practice recently has been to sit on my zafu, attempt to make it sing, followed by three strikes, and then I sit until I can no longer hear the sound.  Then I do it again.

sound is so healing! It stimulates memories!
David Hickey uses up to 20 signing singing bowls and over 8 gongs to create what he calls a crystal journey that heals the body on a cellular level. He will be performing at The Gathering, A Spiritual Woodstock in the Toronto area July 27-August 2, 2012! www.zoxon.com or you can find him at http://www.crystaljourney.ca/index.html

Oooooooooooooooh. How absolutely magical.

I LOVE singing bowls. I once had a singing bowl massage. That's how much I love singing bowls!

I use mine to let my students know that savasana is over... Your practice sounds just lovely!
